What is recorded here

Located just off the E edge of a N-S drumlin ridge. A circular enclosure with trees on the perimeter (diam. c. 40m), which is described in gothic script as a ‘fort’, is depicted only on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map. A curve of a field bank E-SW survived in 1984 and could have incorporated part of the bank, but this had been removed by 1995 (OSAP). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of revision: 13 December 2017
