What is recorded here

Located at the crest of the S-facing slope of a drumlin. This is an oval grass-covered area (dims 38m NE-SW; 32m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (at N: Wth of base 3.5m; Wth of top 2m; int. H 0.3m) WSW-N-ENE, with an external fosse and traces of an external bank NW-E. The inner bank is incorporated into a field bank and the fosse has been deepened S-W-NW, while the monument is slightly truncated by a NE-SW field bank at SE. There are entrance gaps at S (Wth of base 2.2m) and E (Wth of base 3.4m), but the latter is more likely to be the original entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of revision: 25 July 2017

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
