What is recorded here

Situated at the summit of a N-S drumlin ridge. It is depicted as a circular earthwork on the revision of the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map dated 1858. This is a low circular grass and rush-covered platform (diam. 28m) with traces of a surrounding bank (H c. 0.5m). There is no visible fosse or entrance. A NNW-SSE field bank truncates the perimeter at E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of revision: 21 June 2011 Revised by: Claire Breen
