What is recorded here

Located towards the bottom of the NW-facing slope of a SE-NW drumlin spine. This is an oval overgrown area (dims 36m WNW-ESE; 31.5m NNE-SSW) that slopes down to the N. It is defined by earthen bank SE-SW and at N, which is reduced to a scarp elsewhere, with an external fosse that had been recut E-SW. There are several gaps in the bank; that at NW might be original. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of revision: 25 July 2017
