What is recorded here

Situated at the W tip of an E-W spur. This is an oval grass-covered area (dims 37m E-W; 33.6m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank at ESE and SW-WNW, being reduced to a scarp elsewhere, with an external fosse SW-NW. There are gaps in the perimeter at SW and SE (Wth of base 1.7m), but the latter is probably the original entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of revision: 25 July 2017
