What is recorded here

Situated on a level landscape. This is a subcircular grass and rush-covered area (dims 50m W-E; 44m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth c. 7m; int. H 0.12-0.3m) with some bushes often reduced to an external scarp (H 1-1.1m), with an outer fosse (Wth of top 4.5-8m; ext. D 0.5-0.9m). The entrance (Wth 2.5m) is at ESE where there is slight dip in the perimeter and traces of a causeway across the fosse. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 10 July 2007 Amended: 29 October 2021
