This is the location where the partial remains of a body were discovered in December 2012. The remains were found in a stockpile of milled peat and were not in their original position. The body’s original location is unknown though it is likely to have been within an 80m radius of where it was found. The remains were in a desiccated condition and could have been exposed for some time, anywhere from six months to two years. They comprised a semi-intact torso (gender unknown) with partial limbs (arms). The legs, head and one hand were missing and these appear to have been removed in the milling process. The remains were recovered by the National Museum of Ireland (NMI: 2013:51) and no dateable artefacts were discovered in association with them. The body has been radiocarbon dated to the eight century BC (Bermingham 2014, 2-3).
