What is recorded here

A linear roundwood trackway built using longitudinally-laid roundwoods 0.06–0.23m wide and 0.06–0.08m in diameter. The trackway was traced for 45m and was visible in four consecutive drain faces. It lies between 0.17-0.69m below the field surface and was situated within raised bog peats (Bermingham 2014). The site was excavated in 2015 (licence: 15E0163) and dated to cal. 1660-1501 BC (UBA-26635). It consisted of a short length of a single hazel roundwood oriented E-W. Two roundwood elements were exposed in the extended cutting on the production field to the E of the drain. These were laid end-to-end and oriented E–W as well. One of the elements showed toolmarked ends on both sides (Whitaker 2017). Compiled by: David O’Connor, Edited by: Femke Vleeshouwer, 8th April 2020 Date of upload: 21 November 2014
