Archaeological investigations(07E0667) were undertaken at this site in 2007 (Halliday 2007). A series of trenches were excavated and revealed two burial grounds (ME042-033----; ME042-034----), a possible burnt mound (ME042-036----) and a possible prehistoric circular structure (ME042-037----). The burnt mound remains were recorded by the excavator as ‘a large spread that extended outwith [sic] the limits of the trench that was full of burnt stone material. Given its location close to the stream, it is highly likely that this feature is the remains of a fulacht fiadh. It was not investigated during this phase of work.’ (ibid., 34, 6.34.3; (Field 4, Trench 35: Feature 2).
