What is recorded here

Situated on the W bank of the S-N Blackwater River and c. 50m from the canalised stream. Archaeological monitoring (02E0194) of topsoil stripping in advance of the development of a gas pipeline identified four spreads of broken and burnt stones in a confined area (dims 7m E-W; 6m N-S; T ). The spreads (BGE: 1A/40/2) were tested and proved to be three shallow spreads and one pit (dims 0.94m x 0.83m; D 0.28m) which may have served as a trough. The burnt mound (ME041-021----) is c. 60m to the N. (Tobin 2003, 30, Fig. 19) Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload; 7 February 2018
