Situated on a fairly level landscape. Archaeological centre-line testing (04E0415) by J. Dempsey of Testing Area 1, Contract 2, prior to the construction of the M3 motorway in March to May 2004 (excavations.ie: 2004:1336) identified archaeological material, which was completely excavated (E003057) by S. Linnane as Cooksland 1 in July 2006, although the material had suffered in the interim (excavations.ie 2006:1537). When first identified (Dempsey 2004, 28-9) it consisted of a fire-reddened subsoil base with fills of small heat-shattered stones, lenses of oxidised clay, charcoal and charcoal-flecked silty clay. When finally excavated only the fire-reddened oxidized clay base (diam. 1m; T0.13m) remained (Linnane 2008).
