Situated on a S-facing slope and on the NW side of Main Street. An archaeological rescue excavation and watching brief in 1987 (E000404) uncovered evidence of a medieval building (ME036-048046-) and other features. In the course of the watching brief at the N angle of the development area undisturbed medieval stratigraphy (D c. 0.4m) was identified. Medieval pottery was recovered from these layers but no features were present apart from one cobbled layer. The medieval layers were sealed by a layer (T 0.4m) of fragmented fired clays with straw inclusions and some smooth surfaces, suggesting that a brick kiln may have been in the vicinity, but no structural evidence of a kiln was unearthed.
