What is recorded here

Located on a low rise with rock outcrop. This is a slightly raised rectangular and grass-covered area (dims 38m E-W; 30m N-S) that slopes down to the E (H c. 1.5m). It is defined by earthen banks (at W: Wth of base 3m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 1.1m) largely reduced to scarps (at E: Wth 1.5m; H 0.7m), but the perimeter has been quarried at N and curves outwards at W and E but is straight at S. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance, but it is likely to have been a rath. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 5 July 2019
