Situated in a fairly level landscape. The passage (L c. 12m) and beehive chamber of a badly robbed souterrain was excavated (E000164) by M. Cahill in 1977 as Site III in advance of proposed mining works (excavations.ie 1977-79:059). No artefacts were recorded from the souterrain, although two pieces of a saddle quern were recovered from a surface pit. There was no evidence of an enclosure associated with the souterrain.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
