Rathmore was originally owned by the de Verdon family but was acquired by the Plunkets through marriage in the 15th century. Flat-topped subrectangular mound (dims of top 14m N-S; 14m E-W; H 3.5m) planted with trees. The tower house (ME024-018001-), which was probably built by the Plunkets, is built into its N side. The parish church of Rathmore (ME024-017001-) is c. 350m to the SSW.
