Located on the S-facing slope of the Dowth ridge. The stone is indicated as a feature on the 1908 edition of the OS 6-inch map and it is now displayed for at the entry kiosk to the great passage tomb at Newgrange (ME019-045----). It is described (O’Kelly 1967, 45-6, Pl. 2) as large (max. dims 1.22m x 1.06m; H 1.98m) with art on the two large faces. The flat face had been visible in a drain and was damaged. It has a spiral close to one edge with what are probably two pairs of concentric circles adjacent. A possible serpent motif beneath these terminates in a cup-mark and there are two other cup-marks on this surface. The other, more bulbous side has a spiral of eight turns with an attached circle.
