Mound destroyed in 1940s when burial of woman found (NMI file). Tradition that it was burial place of Cormac Mac Airt (RMAHS 1965, 184). The grave consisted of a subrectangular pile of stones and the burial lay underneath this. The grave contained the remains of three adult females and an infant. A sample from one of the skeletons yielded a calibrated date of 257-533 AD. Two fragments of a silver earring were found on the right-hand side of the upper body of skeleton 1 (Cahill & Sikora 2011, 113-120).
