Five concentrations of Beaker pottery, part of Eogan’s Phase 5 – Final Neolithic / Beaker complex dating to c. 2500-2200 BC (Eogan and Cleary 2017, 42), are recorded around Tomb 1C. This is Concentration E, which is a rectangular area (dims 16.5m NE-SW; 10m NW-SE) between the great mound and Tomb 2. The possible structure (ME019-030037-) is against the kerb of the mound but there were also 8 small pits and 2 post-holes. All the pottery was recovered outside the structure and was not associated with any features. There were 100 flints, including a barbed-and-tanged arrowhead, and 446 sherds of Beaker pottery from about 38 vessels were also recovered. (Eogan and Roche 1997, 241-51)
