What is recorded here

Situated on a broad shelf at the bottom of the E-facing slope of a prominent hill known as Slieve Gullion. A circular grass-covered platform (diam. c. 6m) defined by a complete fosse (ext. diam. c. 13m) is visible on Google Earth (05/10/2009) where it is most distinct, and it has been excluded from a forest plantation since 2016. The enclosure (ME015-131----) is c. 50m to the W. The barrow is also visible on MapGenie imagery (2004-06; 2005-12; 2013-18), Digital Globe (2011-13) and Apple Maps, and while it is not depicted directly on any OS map, a 600 foot contour marks the location on the 1908 edition of the OS 6-inch map. The barrow and enclosure were first reported by Jean Charles Caillére. See the attached enhanced view from Google Earth (05/10/2009) Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 12 July 2022
