What is recorded here

Situated on a rise in an undulating low-lying landscape. This feature is not depicted on any OS 6-inch map but is visible on aerial photographs (GSIAP: N 259, 260). This is a D-shaped grass-covered platform (dims c. 30m N-S; c. 20m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 1.2-1.4m) with a berm (at N: Wth 2m) at its base S-W-N. It is truncated by a N-S field bank at E and is not visible E of this feature. An original entrance is not identified, but there is an old quarry inside the perimeter at SW and another outside it at NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 10 January 2019
