What is recorded here

Situated at the N edge of a hillock in the S foothills of the ENE-WSW Slieve na Calliagh ridge. This is a raised circular and grass-covered platform (diam. 32.5m NNE-SSW; 30.5m WNW-ESE) defined by a scarp (at W: Wth 10m; H 3.1m; at E: Wth 6.5m; H 2m) with some stone facing, and an outer fosse (at WNW: Wth of top 6m; Wth of base 4m; ext. D 0.8m) and an outer bank (at WNW: Wth of base 4.7m; ext. H 1.3m) SW-W-NE, but the fosse is visible as a berm (at ENE: Wth 2.5m) NE-SE, and the interior is flush with the ground outside SE-SW. The original entrance is not identified but was probably in the SE-SW area. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 8 January 2019
