What is recorded here

Situated on a knoll at the crest of the E-facing slope of a broad hill. This is an oval grass-covered area (dims 37m NW-SE; 27.5m NE-SW) defined by a slight earth and stone bank (Wth of base 5-5.6m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.1m at WNW to 1.8m at ENE), with some internal stone facing at E. There is no visible fosse and there are several modern gaps in the perimeter, including an old quarry at N, but the original entrance is probably at S (Wth of base 3m). Rath (ME011-030----) is c. 85m to the NW, and fulacht fia (ME011-032----) is c. 60m to the WSW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 9 April 2019
