Situated on top of a hill that is described as ‘Gallows Hill’ in italic lettering on the OS 6-inch maps. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 37m E-W; 35m N-S) defined by a low scarp (Wth 4-5m; H 0.5m at E to 1m at W) separated by a slight fosse or berm (Wth 2-3m) from an outer grass-covered bank (Wth of base 6.5-9m; int. H 0-0.2m; ext. H 0.4-0.5m). There are traces of a second outer fosse NW-E, and there is a gap in the bank at SE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
