Situated on the flat top (diam. c. 45m) of a hill. Archaeological monitoring of topsoil stripping in connection with a gas pipe-line during 1991 identified a curving fosse (Wth 0.5-0.9m; D 0.2-0.9m) that was sampled (E000636) in three places but produced nothing apart from charcoal-flecked soil. A large pit (diam. 2.3m; D 0.9m) filled with boulders and charcoal-flecked soil produced some pig and sheep bones and a sherd of coarse pottery. A smaller pit (L 1. 7m; D 0.2m) produced three similar sherds, thought to be souterrain ware. A few other pits produced no artefacts apart from flecks of charcoal, but the features can be interpreted as the remains of a rath. (Walsh 1991, 1992)
