In undulating pastureland. This cairn is a National Monument (no. 251) in state care. Oval-shaped mound of stone (H 10m; diam. 51m at base), delimited by four flat kerbstones E to SW, enclosed by a heavily overgrown earthen bank (H 0.9m). Decorated stone ball recovered from the site in the late 1800s (NMI). Material from the cairn was probably used to construct the Ordnance Survey trigonometrical station on its summit. Wilde (1872, 222) mentions a large inaccessible cave beneath the stones.
