In undulating pasture, with River Robe 100m N. According to Knox (1908, 36) a Norman castle was erected here in the 1230's. It changed ownership many times. Transformed into a manor house before being levelled to build a military barracks in late eighteenth century, the ruins of which now occupy the site.
