What is recorded here

In pasture, located at the base of a N-facing slope, on top of which a rath (MA103-032----) is located. An expanse of lowlying boggy pasture stretches to N. Low, flat-topped, roughly oval or oblong mound (10m N–S; c. 6.5m E–W; H 0.2m), which appears to be composed of shattered stone fragments in a black, charcoal-rich soil. There is a shallow slightly sunken indentation (2m E−W; 1.8m N−S) towards the N end of the E side, but it is not clear if this represents a trough hollow. The W edge of the mound is indistinct, and the S side is bordered by a partly silted up, vegetation-clogged field drain. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 23 November 2022
