Knox (1911, p. 211) noted ‘an ancient track or path, now closed, which was, until a recent deepening of the Clare river, an important pilgrim route from Roscommon and parts of Galway to Patrick's Well [MA103-003002] at Holywell.' It appears to have extended through Cloonbullig and adjacent townlands, but its exact location/route is uncertain.
