What is recorded here

Located on a ridge top, close to a graveyard (MA102-042002-). According to local tradition, a mass rock in the vicinity of the graveyard was used to celebrate mass during the Penal Era, as the ridge-top location allowed a strategic view over the surrounding landscape. The mass rock was removed in the past, and its exact form and original location are unknown. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 27 September 2022

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
