What is recorded here

This record was not recorded in the SMR (1991). It was listed in RMP (1997) as a possible ringfort on the basis of information received in 1993 from a local source (SMR file). This location consists of a field (c. 45-50m N–S; c. 30m E–W) of flat, featureless ground covered in rough grass and occasional clumps of willow scrub and brambles. To W and N the field is bordered by straight field boundaries outside which lie roads. On the E side of the field the ground drops into to pool/wet marshy ground surrounded by trees and scrub. On the S of the area, the ground level slopes down gently to an old, grass-covered E−W trackway/road. There is no trace of the reported 'earthen banks' and no convincing evidence that there is an enclosure/ringfort here. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 25 May 2022

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
