What is recorded here

In improved pasture, located on a low elevation from which there is gentle fall of ground to NW–N into a natural depression of wet ground. Good views. A circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m), crossed to NE of centre by a field boundary on a NW–SE axis, is shown on the 1838 OS 6-ich map. It is not shown on later map editions. The enclosure, probably a rath, has been levelled, but the outline of a roughly circular area (31.5m NW-SE) can still be traced at ground level. To SW of the field wall a slight curving rise/undulation, representing a levelled bank, can be traced at SE–NW; to NE of the wall, the circuit can only be discerned as a crop mark. There are a rath (MA092-060----) c. 300m to SW and a ringbarrow (MA092-063----) c. 300m to NE. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 10 May 2022
