What is recorded here

This record refers to a church or convent which Tírechán (Book of Armagh) recounts was founded by St. Patrick for Mathona, sister of Bishop Senach of Aghagower. Its precise location is unknown but one tradition associates it with the remains of a small building (MA088-064----), called 'Templenafiacal', located c. 200m to NE of Aghagower graveyard (MA088-063002-). Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 11 December 2020

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
