Fulacht fia in Lecarrow (murrisk By.)

Situated on the eastern bank of a small fast-flowing mountain stream, on the steep northern flank of Knocknaveen (known locally as Glan Hill). The cliff at Leck fault dominates the site from SW. The slope in the vicinity of the monument is steep; c. 1:4 gradient. There are traces of spade cultivation ridges on the western bank of the stream. The fulacht fia is a small roughly oval-shaped, steep- sided mound of grassed-over burnt stone (E–W c. 5.7m, N–S c. 3.7m). It varies in height from a max. of c. 1.1–1.2m on the northern side (downslope) to a min. of c. 0.2m on the southern side (upslope). A series of natural terracettes on north-north- western side of the mound appear to indicate a tail slope of burnt stone extending downslope for a further c. 3m. The top of the mound is flat, and there is a slight trace of a lunate depression on the south-south-western (upslope) side facing the stream. Burnt stone is exposed on the western side of the mound. There appears to be a much higher proportion of conglomerate rock in this mound than in any other noted to date. The above description is derived from: New Survey of Clare Island.
