Fulacht fia in Lecarrow (murrisk By.)

Situated on the southern bank of a modern stream-cutting 35m upstream (to SW) of a bridge on the North Road. The site lies close to the outflow point from the working bog at Park, at a point where the original stream would have emerged from it before drainage and turf-cutting became extensive. The site is overlooked by a small hillock on the northern side of the stream, but otherwise the immediate surroundings are flat. Two exposures/spreads of heat- fractured stone were noted (MA085-002001-, MA085-002002-). The fulachta fia is visible as an intermittent band of burnt stone (L 7m on E–W axis, H c. 0.3m) in the southern face of a recently cut (c. 1988) drainage channel. A loose spread of burnt stone is also in evidence among the spoil dumped on the south- ern bank of the channel at this point. Finally, a very small cluster of burnt stone (L 0.45m) is visible in the northern face of the channel, directly opposite the western end of the exposure in its southern bank.
