House — indeterminate date in Bunnamohaun

Situated on the commonage at the foot of the southern slopes of Knockmore. The house sits on a slight rise overlooking a stream and a small flat- bottomed basin to NE. The line of an unfinished road running E–W is visible c. 10m to S. It consists of a large house platform of subcircular plan (8.2m E–W, 8.1m N–S) defined throughout by a low, at times indeterminate scarp (H 0.7m max.). At N, close to the limits of the house, three stones protrude from the sward and appear to form a straight line (L c. 3m), possibly part of an internal wall face or revetment. There is a noticeable gap (Wth c. 3m) in the scarp from ENE to ESE. The east-south-eastern side of this gap is marked by a large stone slab set on edge (L 1.1m × T 0.3m × H 0.4m). The grassy interior is flat, if not slightly dished, in profile. A later earthen boundary, following a NNW–SSE trajectory, clips the western limits of the house, partially overlying it from SW to NW.
