What is recorded here

In pasture, located on a rise on elevated ground, with good views, somewhat restricted to E by rising ground. Circular area (46.6m N–S; 45.2m E–W) defined on the W half by a partly levelled earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.6m, at NW), reduced elsewhere to a scarp (ext. H 0.55 at E, 0.9m at S). The rath straddles the natural rise, incorporating the higher ground in the W of the interior, from where there is a gentle slope down to NE, E and SE. The enclosing scarp is built up higher on the S to compensate for the natural slope. There is a break (Wth 5m) at SE, possibly the original entrance. Grass cover, with a few hawthorn bushes on the perimeter. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 22 December 2021
