In an area of rough, rocky pasture, divided into a series regular, narrow NW-SE fields or ‘stripes’ by drystone field walls, which are superimposed on earlier, irregular sub-divisions.
This enclosure is not shown on the 1838 OS 6-inch map. It is indicated on the 1919 edition as a roughly D-shaped enclosure (c. 35m E-W; c. 25m N-S) with straight side at N and S defined by a field boundaries. The enclosure is also recorded in an aerial photograph (SMR file: GSI M 681-0; Roll 218, pr. 8).
The enclosure was removed during land reclamation in 1980's/early 1990's. When inspected in 1996, a slight rise in ground level, bordered at NE and SW by field walls, was evident with remnants of a low curving scarp (H 0.4m) immediately to S of the SW field wall, possibly preserving the extreme S edge of the enclosure. A single hawthorn bush stood at the location.
