What is recorded here

In rough pasture, located at the top of a gentle S-facing slope, overlooking gently undulating pasture land and bog. There is rising ground to N. A circular embanked enclosure (diam. c. 35m) is shown on 1838 OS 6-inch map, but not on later map editions. It has been levelled, but the outline of S half is still evident as a slightly raised arc (diam. c. 22m E–W) defined by a scarp (H 1m; Wth slope 2m at S) curving WSW–SE, truncated at W by a field fence on NW–SE axis. The interior is level but appears to have been raised on the S half to compensate for the natural slope. There is a hint of a depression (Wth c. 2m) outside the scarp at S, possibly indicating a fosse. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 2 June 2021
