What is recorded here

In pasture, located on a rise. There is a stream 130m to NE. Slightly raised oval area (c. 28m E−W; 36m NNE−SSW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.8m; int. H 0.2-0.3m; ext. H 1.1m at NW, 1.6m at SE). The bank on the E arc has a broad external slope and a low stony internal rim. On the W arc it has been modified to serve as a field fence and here its external face is cut the vertical and faced with stones. There is a gap (Wth 1.8m) at SSE, flanked by two boulders, possibly an original entrance. The interior slopes down gently from centre to E and SE. The W half is obscured by blackthorn scrub. The perimeter is densely ringed with hawthorn, blackthorn and ash trees. There is a rath (MA072-072----) 275m to NW. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 12 May 2021
