In a rath (MA072-035001-).
This souterrain is indicated on the 1838 and 1930 OS 6-inch maps as ‘Cave’ on the S edge of the rath interior.
Two in situ roof lintels can be seen on the SSE edge of the interior. One is set in the rath scarp, underlying a short section of drystone wall that tops the scarp here; the other is 2m to NW, partly protruding from the sod on the edge of a slight depression adjacent to the scarp. From here, a low linear rise (Wth c. 2.5m) extends for 19.7m to NW through the centre of the interior; this may follow the line the souterrain. Mid-way along this linear feature, and 5m to SW of it, there is a slight depression with two boulders in the base, which block an access hole into the souterrain.
According to local information, the souterrain is of drystone construction with lintel roofing.
