This castle is listed in the 1635-37 Strafford Inquisition of Co. Mayo: '…the castle of Boholo, and half qr of land there onto belonging, called the half qr of Bocholo, with a mill [MA071-185002-].' (O’Sullivan 1958, 119). It may refer to Bohola motte (MA071-076----).
