In pasture, located on a ridge with good views along a small stream valley 200m to N. Overlooked by a higher ridge to S.
Slightly raised oval area (45.7m N−S; c. 51m E−W) defined by a bank/scarp and enclosed by a fosse with an external bank.
The bank (Wth 2.6m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.1m at E) is well defined at NE−SSE, retaining a low inner slump. It is reduced to a scarp (H 1.1m at W) at S−W and is levelled at W−NNE to a low rise. The fosse (Wth 3m) can be traced at E−NW, with a field wall skirting its outer edge of the fosse at SW−S. The external bank (Wth 3.4m; int. H 1m; ext. H 0.9m at W) survives only at S−W, and is topped by a thin layer of stones.
A field wall crosses the W half of the interior on a NW−SE axis, and a perpendicular wall extends from this to SW through the NW quadrant. Hazel, hawthorn and blackthorn grow thickly on the rath perimeter at NE−W. A tractor track crosses the fosse and scarp at SSW, continuing N into the rath interior; a section (L 10m) of the external bank has been levelled here. There is an enclosure (MA071-046----) 50m to NW.
