Located in the W half of a rath (MA071-042----). This house was discovered and fully excavated in 1992-3 during excavation (92E0152) of the rath in advance of the construction of the N5 Swinford by-pass (Walsh 1995, 7-8). It consisted of a small circular structure (diam. c. 3.5) defined by a foundation trench. No occupation surface survived but charcoal found in the foundation trench, appeared to represent the burnt remains of structural timbers. Radiocarbon analysis of the charcoal produced an Iron Age date: 92 cal. BC–cal. AD 58. Two similar circular houses (MA071-042001-; MA071-042002-) were located immediately to N and W, respectively.
