What is recorded here

In pasture on a low ridge. Recorded on the first edition (1837) of the OS 6-inch map as a circular area (est. max. diam. c. 40m) defined by a bank; probably a ringfort. Subsequently recorded as altered on the slightly later OS 25-inch plan (1837) where the monument is shown still as a circular enclosure but by then defined by a scarp from NNW-E-SSE and by a later field boundary curving to follow the line of the original enclosing element from SW-W-NW, but with the S limits of the monument, between SSE and SW, overlain by a later boithrín running WNW-ESE.  While the later field boundary curving from SW-W-NW has since been levelled, its line is still traceable at ground level, as is a very low scarp curving NNW-E-SSE, indicating the enclosing line of the monument (E-W diam. c. 30m). The generally level interior contains an electricity pole to N of centre. Date of visit: 23-9-2025 Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
