What is recorded here

In pasture, situated on a SSW-facing drumlin ridge, with good views of the surrounding terrain, except where blocked by rising ground at NNW-NE. This rath is indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure, with an E-W field boundary extending through its centre; on later map editions it is shown as a D-shaped area bordered on the straight side at S by an E-W field fence. It is evident as a circular area (diam. c. 34m) enclosed on the N half by a substantial earthen bank (Wth 4.9m; int. H 1.05m; ext. H 1.6m, at N), outside which is a fosse (Wth 4.25m; ext. D 1m) with a low counterscarp bank (Wth 4.9m; ext. H 0.3m). The S half of the rath has been levelled, but the outline of the circuit can still be traced as slight undulation. An E-W field fence divides the upstanding half of the rath from the levelled half. A farm track on a NNE-SSE axis extends through the centre of the rath.
