What is recorded here

In wettish drained rough pasture, at the base of rising ground to W. A low, overgrowth-covered mound (diam. c. 7m; H 0.7m) of angular stone fragments in dark brown/black, peaty soil. It is difficult to determine its full dimensions. A large stone is visible on the S edge of the mound. There is a field fence immediately to W. According to the landowner, immediately to S of this mound there was a circular area (diam. c. 10m) defined by a rough low line or kerb of stones. This area was disturbed during land reclamation. When inspected, this area was evident as uneven ground, disturbed by clearance activity/burning of tree stumps, and covered in brambles. A few isolated concentrations of stones were visible but formed no coherent pattern. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 9 December 2020
