What is recorded here

In peat banks on the shoreline of a small cove on the E side of Achill Sound. A drystone wall (Wth c. 3m; H 0.2-0.4m) composed of sandstone slabs (L 0.5-0.75m) and smaller cobbles (L c. 0.2-0.3m). It appears to be partly collapsed or slumped but is difficult examine as it is largely obscured by an accumulation of seaweed and modern rubbish. The wall appears to emerge from beneath an exposed peat bank (H 0.8m) and extends to SW for 13.9m, ending abruptly at the shoreline. Another wall (MA055--19----) lies c. 10m to W and there is a third wall (MA055-020----) c. 40m to W. Compiled by Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 3rd April 2013
