In a level pasture field, which is bordered along its N side, 45m N of the stone, by a small river; the townland boundary coincides with the course of the river. The Ox Mountains define the skyline to E and Nephin Mountain is visible to SW.
A squat, upright granitic boulder (H 1.3m; Wth c. 1.15m), roughly rounded or polygonal in circumference (cirf. 3.2m), with a gently domed top. There is a massive standing stone (MA040-091----) 90m to E and a stone row (MA040-092----) 80m to S.
