A castle is listed in Ballymore townland in the Strafford Inquisition of Co. Mayo:
'…1 carton in the qr of Bellanamore, and 1/4 part of the castle and one half of the bawn there of…' (O'Sullivan 1958, 113). The exact location where this castle stood has not been established.
