In rich pastureland, prominently sited on a NW−SW ridge, with a steep slope to S. There are excellent views, overlooking Lough Brohly to NE. At base of the ridge slope, 130m to SE is a small river flowing SW from Lough Brohly. There is a derelict farmstead c. 50m to S.
Raised oval area or platform (35m NE−SW; 24m NW−SE) defined by a substantial earthen scarp (Wth slope 3.4m; H 1.95m) and enclosed by a fosse, with an arc of external bank (Wth 4.7m; int. H 0.9m; 1.6m) surviving at NE. The fosse is evident as a shallow depression (Wth 4m) at N−E; it is barely discernible at SE-S, and is evident at W−N as a terrace (Wth 3m) with a substantial external scarp. At E−SW a later field fence cuts across the fosse, more or less mirroring the curve of the rath platform. The rath utilises and is enhanced by the steep natural slopes of the ridge. There is a large boulder at the base of the platform scarp at W. The perimeter is ringed with overgrowth, particularly dense on the S half.
